Carnelian

Carnelian is a chalcedony stone that comes in colors ranging from red to bright orange. It is popular among the Muslims as it was favoured by the Prophet Muhammad.

Napoleon wore a carnelian amulet. On it were the words The slave Abraham relying on the Merciful. Something he found in Egypt.

The ancient Egyptian kings too were fond of carnelian as the mummies were found wearing amulets of carnelian carved into figurines o their gods..

Carnelian lends itself to intricate designs. It is a quartz with a fine texture which allows intricate carvings to be made from it.

No wonder too. The fiery red orange colors of carnelian must have made quite an impact on people in the early civilizations

Carnelian is the August birthstone.
