Citrine

Citrine is a form of quartz that is yellow, orange or brown. Citrine is so called as it is usually a sunny yellow or cheerful orange like citrus fruit.

Citrine is actually a relative of amethyst. Both are quartz. In fact, when amethyst deep in the ground gets heated up by the natural heat below, it turns yellow and becomes citrine.

The yellow, to orange red shades of citrine makes citrine jewelry, the jewelry to wear with earth tone clothes. Citrine goes beautifully with with brown, earth tone clothes and accessories. Golden citrine goes very well with the current fashions.

The best citrines are the one with the most intense color.

Citrines were popular even in Ancient Greece way back around 4 B.C..
