September birthstone jewelry

Edgar Rice Burroughs (the author of Tarzan) was born on 1st September as was Gloria Estefan. Keanu Reeves, Charlie Sheen, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Stella McCartney , David Copperfield , Will Smith , Catherine Zeta Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow and Deborah Kerr were all born in September.

So what do September birthday boys and girls have in common?

September babies are said to be highly intellectual (uh.. Charlie Sheen? There's got to be a mistake somewhere.), critical, great communicators and perfectionists.

Perfectionists would love the September birthstone, Sapphire.

This is one of the most precious gemstones and extremely coveted. The larger the stone, the more vibrant the natural color, the more flawless the stone, the more valuable it is and a sapphire can be extremely valuable. The ones from Kashmir are the most expensive. Next comes the sapphires from Burma. By the way, in 2002, a 14 carat Burma sapphire was sold for $13,000 per carat which made that around $182,000 for that stone. In April 2007, a 22.66 carat sapphire sold for over $3 million.

Sapphire is also the anniversary gemstone for the 5th and 25th wedding anniversaries.

The original sapphire is blue. Hence you have eyes described to be as blue as sapphires. They can come in other colors as well. Pink sapphires are gaining popularity and yellow sapphires are pretty fashionable too.

The appeal of sapphires go a long way back. The ancient Persians loved sapphire. They believed that the earth rested on a giant sapphire. Closer to modern days, royalty loves sapphire. The late Princess Diana received a sapphire engagement ring.

Sapphires need not be reserved for royalty. A guy born in September would be pleased to receive a pair of sapphire cuff links for his birthday. Any woman born in September or otherwise would be thrilled to receive a gorgeous sapphire necklace or a pair of sapphire earrings

Get these sapphire jewels for that birthday boy or girl. You will impress them.

If the birthday month is September, the birthstones would be

  1. Sapphire
