Tsavorite is a modern day discovery. It was found in the Tsavo national park in the 1960s. It is now popular in modern jewelry designs.

Tsavorite is a green gemstone that looks a lot like emerald, but is more brilliant. Tsavorite is actually a garnet, but a very expensive one.

Care must be taken when cleaning tsavorite. Changes in temperature can cause the stone to crack.
